The FDA provides regulations for pet food, stating that “animal foods be safe to eat, produced under sanitary conditions, contain no harmful substances, and be truthfully labeled.” However, those standards do not necessarily mean that the food is sustainably sourced or contains organic ingredients.

Look for cat food that is produced from sustainably raised or grass-fed animals and includes non-GMO grain products. This will help ensure that you’re not giving your cat kid food that contains increased levels of pesticides or other harmful chemicals.
